Passing your CBEST (Basic skills requirement):

If you’ve already passed or meet the requirements, great! You’ll want to start your application for your 30-day permit. See below.

Schedule your test, be sure to take some time to study once your test is scheduled.

Please be sure to schedule your test as soon as possible as the 30-day permits can take up to 50 days to process.

Applying for your emergency 30-day substitute teaching permit:

Gather required documents for your permit application:

(1) Official transcripts

Please note, if your university uses a third party to produce their transcripts, you must get them sent to yourself to include in the mailed application packet. If your university produces hard copies sealed in an envelope, you need to submit the sealed document with your application.

Here’s a resource that might be helpful when ordering your transcripts

(2) Live Scan / background check including fingerprinting (you’ll need this form)

Complete your application here. You’ll need to include the process fee of $100 in the packet.

Please be sure to submit your application as soon as possible as the 30-day permits can take up to 50 days to process.
