Depending on which state you’re based in, many partner schools will require those subbing for lead teachers to have a state teaching or substitute teaching credential. For this reason, obtaining a credential or permit increases your eligibility for job opportunities.
However, we do receive requests for non-certificated substitute teachers, support roles such as instructional aides, paraprofessionals, and after-school supervisors! Therefore, having a credential or permit, while encouraged, is not required to work with Scoot Education.
For more information on what the application process looks like in each state, please search “How to become a substitute teacher in [YOUR STATE]” in the FAQ search bar.
