Online application
Fill out basic information such as your legal name, email, and phone number.
You’ll then be redirected to Fountain where you’ll complete the initial questionnaire to start the hiring process.
Upload your resume. No worries if you don’t have one. You can indicate that you don’t have a resume and you’ll be redirected to another section that asks basic questions about your professional background.
Hit submit and you’ve now finished the first part of the application! If your application is selected to move forward, you'll be contacted to schedule a phone screening.
Phone screening
Congratulations! At this point, you have been invited to schedule a quick phone call.
This is NOT an interview. The purpose of this phone call is to get to know you better as we go over your submitted application.
If you’re approved to move forward, you’ll be contacted again to schedule a formal interview.
Before the Interview
You’re required to upload your credential information. This includes completing one of the following:
Answer questions about your CA teaching credential or permit.
You can look up your credential/permit information on the CTC website under the 'Search' tab.
We recommend performing a Secured Search using your DOB and SSN.
If you hold more than two valid credentials or permits please let your Scoot consultant know during your interview.
If you do not have a credential or permit you will be asked to upload your CBEST or basic skills information.
After the Interview- Onboarding Steps:
If your interview goes well, your consultant will guide you through the onboarding process. You'll also receive instructions from Fountain on how to submit and upload the required documents. Here’s what to expect next:
1. Submit three professional references
The references submitted must include at least one supervisor and one individual who can speak to your experience working with children. We contact these references via email, text and/or phone to review your previous work experience.
2. Sign offer letter & dispute resolution
Please note that the offer is conditional and is based on completing a background check, TB clearance, contacting references, and completing your mandatory training.
You’re officially hired, but in order to begin your work assignments, you’ll need to pass onboarding steps required by the state and Scoot.
3. Payroll information & I-9
This is so you can start getting paid right away!
Form I-9, also known as the Employment Eligibility Verification form, is utilized by employers in the U.S. to verify the identity and employment eligibility of individuals they hire.
Our onboarding platform will guide you through the required documents, with common submissions including a U.S. passport, or a U.S. driver's license/ID card and a Social Security card. For details on acceptable i-9 documents, please refer to this website, here. After your documents are fully verified and your i-9 is complete, you can proceed with your application.
4. Tuberculosis clearance
Assessment or test dates must be in the last 60 days.
5. Request for Live Scan form
You’ll receive instructions to complete your Live Scan. Scoot covers the cost, provided your background check is successfully cleared.
6. Scoot Profile Photo
A friendly and professional headshot is your profile's first impression for schools. This helps them recognize you and may lead to more frequent bookings.
After the interview- Activation
Final Review
After completing all required steps, your application will be reviewed by our compliance team. We will contact you if any documents or information are missing. If your documents and references are in order, you will be fully activated and approved as a Scoot Education educator.
Approved
Congratulations! At this point, you are officially a Scoot educator. It’s time to complete your first shift.
