Before You Begin

Before starting your I-9, make sure you have:

  • A valid, unexpired identity document, such as a driver's license or U.S. passport.

  • A clear photo or scan of your document. You can use your phone to take a picture or a free scanning app like Google Drive or Adobe Scan.

  • If you're unsure which documents are accepted, review the list of acceptable documents on the USCIS website.

What to Expect

There are 2 simple steps to complete your I-9.

Step 1

Enter your information and upload a photo or scan of your identity document(s).

Step 2

Verify your identity with an Authorized Representative. This can be any adult (18 or older), such as a spouse, roommate, neighbor, friend, or family member.

Your Authorized Representative must:

  • Be physically with you during this step.

  • Have a smartphone available to scan the QR code and verify your documents.

The I-9 Page Won't Load or Says It's Unavailable
